What Is VBeam®?
The VBeam® laser is an innovative pulsed-dye laser (PDL), often referred to as a vascular laser because it is excellent at treating and remediating broken capillaries, rosacea, port wine stains, spider veins, strawberry hemangiomas, and other conditions related to the body’s network of blood vessels. VBeam® can also improve the appearance of superficial pigmentation discoloration, such as photodamage, sun spots, freckles, stretch marks, acne scars, psoriasis, and wrinkles. This highly versatile skin laser is likewise used to speed up the healing of post-treatment bruising following cosmetic and surgical procedures.
How Does VBeam® Laser Treatment Work?
VBeam® uses a dye to generate multiple colors of laser beams, which are then delivered to the skin in pulses during laser skin treatment. The color of the laser beam is determined by the intended treatment. For example, yellow light is absorbed by blood vessels in the uppermost layer of skin (dermis), causing the vessels to collapse without harming surrounding skin cells. Then, the collapsed blood cells are reabsorbed and removed during the body’s natural healing process. This innovative laser therapy can be programmed to emit different colors of light to zap a variety of different skin issues — from blotchiness and redness to dark spots and acne scarring — naturally breaking them down and flushing them out.
What Does VBeam® Treat?
See effective treatment of your facial-skin woes with Vbeam®. The Vbeam® laser effectively treats facial redness, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, facial scarring, and other visible skin imperfections caused by a wide range of different skin conditions. While known as a laser for redness, Vbeam® is also popularly used for vascular birthmark removal, such as port wine stains, and as a broken capillary treatment that can be used on virtually any area of the body.
Treatments are safe, non-invasive, and effective, and sessions require only minutes. Vbeam® is excellent at targeting large blood vessels that measure larger than 1mm and individual spots or patches of skin, such as for port wine stain treatment. However, this laser may be less user friendly for covering large areas of skin. Individuals with small blood vessels and hyperpigmentation resulting from sun damage on their face, chest, arms, or back should consider alternative cosmetic or laser treatments for the best possible results.
If you suffer from the following skin conditions and you seek a safe, effective, and non-invasive solution for fresher, healthier skin, you may benefit from treatment with VBeam®.
- Angiomas
- Birthmarks
- Facial Scarring
- Facial Redness
- Facial Veins
- Hyperpigmentation
- Poikiloderma
- Port-Wine Stains
- Rosacea Symptoms
- Sun Damage
- Vascular Imperfections
Who Is VBeam® For?
VBeam® laser treatment is both safe and effective for the vast majority of patients. This laser works exceptionally well on patients with pale skin and moderately well on olive skin tones. VBeam® is not typically used for individuals with deep skin tones, as the transmission of the wavelengths is blocked by melanin in skin with rich pigment levels. Patients with darker skin tones seeking treatment should consider chemical peels, microneedling, skin resurfacing, and Fraxel® laser treatment to improve their skin texture and tone.
VBeam® is not appropriate for pregnant patients and those who have taken Accutane within the last six months. Patients with a history of cold sores or herpes simplex virus should not undergo this procedure until they receive treatment for these conditions. Additionally, certain medications such as blood thinners may increase the risk of side effects following treatment. As such, it is crucial that patients thoroughly discuss their medical history with our dermatologists. Contact us today to schedule a consultation!
Benefits Of VBeam®
VBeam® reduces redness and other vascular issues to unveil a youthful, glowing, and healthy complexion. Among the numerous benefits of undergoing the VBeam® laser is the expected immediate results visible after one or more sessions — most patients see results in as little as 1-3 sessions. However, the extent of improvement and healing time may vary from patient to patient depending upon the specific skin condition being treated. Dramatic and permanent results can be achieved with only a single treatment, but a series of treatments may be required for ideal results and upkeep, depending on the area of concern. For example, blue veins typically respond less well to the laser than red veins. For patients struggling with rosacea, visible blood vessels, facial redness, and other vascular imperfections, the VBeam® laser offers a safe and effective solution.
What To Expect During VBeam® Treatment
During any treatment, our dermatologists and skin care specialists always ensure the patient is as comfortable as possible during their procedure. Most patients are reclined or asked to lie down, depending on the area being treated. To protect patients’ eyes from the VBeam® laser, we provide patients with safety eyewear that neutralizes any laser light. Depending on the specific condition being treated, the VBeam® laser will be calibrated based on the type, size, and depth of blood vessels or pigmented areas being treated. This helps maximize positive results following treatments and reduce the number of required follow-up sessions. One of the benefits of treatment with VBeam® is that the laser’s cooling bursts ensure each session is virtually pain-free. In fact, this laser is so gentle that patients don’t even need a local anesthetic for treatment, even in sensitive areas. What’s more, treatments typically take just a few minutes for each area being treated.
VBeam® Results
Patients who receive treatment with VBeam® experience more even-toned, vibrant, and younger-looking skin with improved texture and a marked reduction in vascular imperfections. Following the recovery period, some patients report noticeable improvements after their first treatment. Optimal improvement is usually visible in about 4-8 weeks after treatment after the patient’s deep skin levels respond to the procedure with its natural healing process and new skin cells emerge in place of the damaged cells. What To Expect After VBeam® Treatment
Following VBeam® treatment, patients may experience mild swelling and skin redness in the targeted areas. However, patients generally do not have to miss work or daily activities to recover, so downtime is minimal. Patients must follow the post-operative care instructions provided by our dermatologists and skin care specialists. Cold compresses may be used directly after treatment to reduce any redness and ease discomfort. The permanency of a patient’s treatment regimen typically depends in part on their ongoing sun exposure and daily skin care. For more information about VBeam® treatment, contact our office.
